Early Life & Education
Dr. MD Razibur Rahman Razib, commonly known as Dr. M R Rahman Razib, was born in Bogura Mission Hospital, Bangladesh. His educational journey began at Pre-Cadet Nursery School, followed by Bogura Zilla School, where he showed remarkable academic promise. In Class Seven, he was admitted to Rajshahi Cadet College, where he completed SSC and HSC, paving the way for his medical career.
He pursued his MBBS degree from Rajshahi Medical College, demonstrating a strong commitment to paediatrics. His passion for child health led him to specialize in Paediatrics, earning a postgraduate degree from BICH (Bangladesh Institute of Child Health) under Dhaka University. To enhance his understanding of healthcare systems, he further completed a Master’s in Health Economics from the Institute of Health Economics, Dhaka University.
Professional Career
Dr. Razib’s medical career began at Dhaka Shishu (Children’s) Hospital, the largest paediatric hospital in Bangladesh. In 2006, he joined the Bangladesh Civil Service as an Assistant Surgeon, later becoming a Junior Consultant in 2014. In 2022, he was promoted to Senior Consultant in Paediatrics under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
A pivotal part of his career was working under National Professor M R Khan, the Father of Paediatrics in Bangladesh. From 2004 until Prof. Khan’s passing, Dr. Razib closely assisted him, gaining invaluable experience in paediatric care and healthcare management.
In addition to his government service, he is also a Consultant at Nebedita Children Hospital Limited and Central Hospital, contributing to advanced paediatric care.
Contributions to Child Healthcare
Beyond his clinical roles, Dr. Razib is dedicated to improving child healthcare systems in Bangladesh. He is the Founding Secretary of the Child Health Trust, Bangladesh, which focuses on enhancing child health and education, particularly for underprivileged children.
His deep interest in special needs child care inspired him to co-found UHCD Trust, Bangladesh, alongside his wife and global collaborators. As Chairman of UHCD Trust, he is leading efforts to establish a specialized care center for children with special needs, where education, therapy, and medical care will be provided under one roof.
Through year-round offline and online treatment programs, he ensures continuous medical support for special needs children. His mission is to bridge the gap in healthcare access and provide equal opportunities for all children, regardless of socioeconomic status.
Family & Personal Life
Dr. Razib comes from a family devoted to education and social work. His father, a retired school head, and his mother, a retired senior school teacher, dedicated their lives to shaping young minds. Inspired by this legacy, Dr. Razib and his family continue their commitment to public service.
His wife, Dr. Ajuba Sharmin Parjun, is a public health specialist and child health physician, serving as the Vice Chairman of UHCD Trust. Together, they share a vision of improving child healthcare in Bangladesh.
Dr. Razib and Dr. Ajuba are proud parents of two children:
Daughter: Zarin Subah Rahman Rodoshi
Son: Raem Rahman
